The Space

A newly bought 6200 sq ft. home in the city of Kolkata, owned by MasterChef, Sneha Singhi.

The Ask

We took up this time-sensitive project during the pandemic and had all of six months to redo the entire house. Along with the client, her husband-to-be, and their two dogs were going to live in this home. The only brief they had for us was to keep the home airy, welcoming, and full of light.

The Result

The amount of trust that our client had in us was really inspiring and made us want to do our very best. Since the client is a working couple, we were looking for furniture that was easy to maintain without having to compromise on style or elegance. We travelled overseas to buy most of the furniture and the client approved all of it simply on our word after looking at the pictures.

The couple are serious art collectors and have a remarkable art collection. We made the most of this throughout their home.

The whole point of renovating the house was to have an open space with dog friendly interiors.

We chose tiles for flooring that were anti-skid and for fabrics we picked something that can withstand canine affection. Getting this right was crucial for us because we truly believe that every client in the home is important, even if it is a furry client.

Another interesting factor that we added to the space was a coffee room. Since our client is a professional chef and loves coffee, we dedicated a small room to creating her personal space. The best testimony for us was that just through her and one good experience, we have now built a significant client base in Kolkata over the last four and a half years. This was a breakthrough project for us as it opened many doors for future projects.

I had the pleasure of working with Essajees, and I cannot express how impressed and grateful
I am for the incredible work they did. From start to finish, Sarah and her team was attentive, knowledgeable, and creative, bringing my vision to life in ways I never could have imagined.

Not only did they provide expert guidance on the entire house but they also took the time to truly understand my style and preferences, ensuring that every detail was perfectly tailored to my tastes, almost all last minute. Their attention to detail was remarkable, and the end result was a space that not only looked beautiful but felt like a true reflection of myself and my husband. Throughout the entire process, Essajees was professional, communicative, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that I was happy with the final outcome. They were able to transform my space into a sanctuary, a place where I feel comfortable, happy, and proud to call my own.

I cannot recommend Sarah and her team highly enough. Their talent, creativity, and commitment to their craft are truly exceptional, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with them. If you are looking to transform your space into something truly special, this team is the best for the job.
